Is Trade The News a good news platform for news traders?
How can you use it to make trading decisions?
Are there any better alternatives?
How To Use TradeTheNews
Text Headlines
On the Trade The News platform, you can see the text headlines in real-time as shown below.
You can choose to see one of the following three different markets:
- Global equity news
- Energy news
- Credit/FX/Futures news
If you are a stock trader, you most likely will use “Global equity news”.
You can filter the “Global equity news” headlines by the following sectors:
- Communication Service
- Consumer discretionary
- Consumer staples
- Energy
- Financials
- Healthcare
- Industrials
- Information Technology
- Real Estate
- Utilities
Also, you can further filter the news by different geographical zones:
- America
- Europe
- Asia
If you are looking for news for a specific stock, you can use the “search” function.
For example, if I am interested in trading Apple stocks, I will type Apple stock ticker in the search box to get all the latest news.
To expand the news, you can either move your cursor on the headline or click the headline.
Comparing Trade The New with Benzinga Pro, I prefer the Benzinga Pro news platform.
Here’s why.
When it comes to new headlines, Benzinga Pro allows you to filter and also color-code them.
This way, it will be much faster for you to spot the news that matters to you.
On top of that, Benzinga Pro also provides a price sentiment engine that tells you how likely news is to move a stock and in which direction.
For a trader, this is a huge time-saver.

Audio News
With Trade The News, you can choose to play the Global Equity News or FX/Futures/FI News.
Personally, I prefer to have live audio news playing in the background because I don’t want to have to constantly stare at the news headlines.
Also, while you are managing your position, you might not be able to see the headline news in time.
If you are a trader, live audio news is a must-have.
This is because major news can cause huge market moves and you want to be one of the first to know.
When it comes to audio news, I highly recommend Benzinga Pro .
Event Watch
Next, let’s take a look at the “Event Watch” tab.
This is a multiple-page report that summarizes all the events happening for the day:
- Key economic data release
- M&A
- Important Conferences
- Analyst meetings
- Key industry releases
- Company updates
13F-Radar Filer
If you like to follow well-known fund managers and want to keep tabs on what they are buying or selling most recently, then Trade The News 13F-Radar Filers will be of some use to you.
For example, if you want to follow what Warren Buffet is investing in, you can search for Berkshire Hathaway under 13F-Radar Filer.
To see what are the changes in his portfolio holdings, you just have to click on it to expand as shown below.
Top Stories
“Top Stories” shows you the most important news stories under this tab.
Before the market opens, you could go over to this tab and read through all the top stories to get yourself prepared for the day.
Morning Report
Under “Morning Report”, you get all the important news on stocks (i.e. released after yesterday’s market close) such as the following:
- earnings
- management change
- revenue guidance
- drug approval
- new product release
- mergers & acquisition
- etc
To save time, you can filter the stock news to only show news on the stocks in your portfolio.
Trade The News Pricing
There are three pricing tiers for Trade The News Equity if you are mostly trading the stock markets:
- Standard Equity Text Membership: $170/month
- Premium 13F Radar Membership: $254/month
- Pro Equity Audio Membership: $295/month
The most basic membership plan gives you streaming text headlines, earnings& conference call calendar, headline email alerts, morning reports,s and market updates.
Do take note that you won’t get the audio headlines in the cheapest subscription plan.
The key difference between Standard Equity Text Membership and Premium 13F Radar Membership is that you get 13F Radar.
So, what is 13F Radar?
This allows you to see what other fund managers are buying and selling as well as what is inside their current portfolio.
It will be useful if you have hedge fund managers that you like to follow.
However, by the time they file 13F, they have already bought or sold the stocks.
So, it might be a bit late.
Having said that, stocks tend to go up after famous investors such as Warren Buffet disclose their stock purchases.
Recently (Mar 2022), Warren Buffet disclosed his big position in the oil stock Occidental Petroleum when its share price was trading around $50.
After that, its share price shot up to close to $70 in less than 2 months.
Now, let’s look at the most expensive pricing tier – Pro Equity Audio Membership.
The key difference between Pro Equity Audio Membership and the other two cheaper plans is that you get access to real-time global equity news squawk as well as the chance to ask the news desk any question you might have.
But, is $295/month really worth it?
There are better and much cheaper alternatives such as Benzinga Pro.
There are three different pricing plans for Benzinga Pro:
- Free
- Benzinga Pro Basic: $37/month
- Benzinga Pro Essential: $197/month
With Benzinga Pro Basic, you get delayed Nasdaq market data, a Full Newsfeed without advanced filtering, chat, Movers, Watchlist alerts, and Benzinga Premium Articles.
On the other hand, Benzinga Pro Essential gives you everything included in Benzinga Pro Basic plus much more.
You get real-time Nasdaq market data, Advanced Newsfeed (filtered by Technicals such as Price, Volume, and Float), Real-time Scanner, Audio Squawk (equity & options), Calendar, Signals, and Usual Options Activity.
If you are a serious trader, then I would recommend Benzinga Pro Essential because speed is everything in trading.
Benzinga Pro Essential gives almost everything that you get from Trade The News Pro Equity Audio Membership and much more but only at about a third of its cost.
So, if you are a serious trader and you trade news, I highly recommend Benzinga Pro.
I strongly recommend that you sign up for a free trial of Benzinga Pro and test it out by yourself.
Every now and then, Benzinga will have very attractive promotional offers emailed to their free trial users. So, if you decide it is a good fit, then you can take advantage of these great offers when they come.
