Are you looking for business ideas for women that ACTUALLY work?
If you don’t know what kind of business you want to start, that’s okay because I am going to help you find out what business idea is the best for YOU, whether you are a housewife or working mother.
And I will show you exactly how you can get your business started the right way.
I still remember that I had always wanted to start a business ever since I graduated from college, but it took me years before I finally started my own online business.
Why did it take me such a long time?
Because I was COMPLETELY clueless.
I didn’t know what business I should start and what is a good business idea for me.
Most importantly, deep down I knew that my fear of failure was holding me back because I didn’t want to start a business only to waste all my time and money and see it fail in the end.
Maybe you are feeling the same way like me back then.
What I want to tell you is that NOBODY can guarantee that you would succeed.
BUT, you can significantly increase your chances of success by doing a few right things:
- Find people who have succeeded in their business and learn from them
- Implement their strategy to get results for yourself
And that’s exactly what I did.
After I got pregnant with my son, I started researching for online business opportunities for women because I wanted to spend more time at home with my son.
During my research, I found that selling information products is the best online business idea for me for a few reasons:
- It’s simple to get started with very low investment
- It allows me to talk about what I love and share my knowledge and experience to help other people
- It’s passive income
- It’s very flexible when it comes to time commitment
After I decided to create and sell information products online, I wanted to do everything right from the start.
So, I went to learn from other successful information product creators and implemented their strategy in my business.
What is the result?
My website traffic has been growing every single month and I have been making consistent revenue from creating and selling my own information products.

How To Find Your Business Idea
So, how do find your business idea when you have absolutely no idea what you want to do at all?
Now, let’s tackle this problem systematically.
First, there are only two broad types of businesses:
- Product based business
- Service based business
Product Based Business Ideas
Let’s talk about product based businesses.
Again, there are two main types of products:
- Physical products (i.e. bikes, accessories, bags, clothing, etc)
- Information products (i.e. eBooks, online courses, coaching programs, memberships, etc)
We all know how selling physical products works.
It’s very straight forward.
You can either invent your own products and have it manufactured and then sell or you can source and buy products at wholesale prices and resell them at retail price at your shop.
If you have been watching Shark Tank, there are tons of examples of ordinary people coming up with brilliant product ideas.
Below is just one example of a business idea by women entrepreneurs.
This product is called “Simply Fit Board” created by a mother and daughter duo. It is a dynamic workout tool that gives your abs, legs, and entire core a good workout in minutes.
So, how much sales have they done so far?
160 million in revenue in 4 years!
I hope that this inspires you to look for new product ideas to solve everyday problems:)
Okay, what if you don’t have a new product idea?
That’s okay because you can still make money selling physical products – that’s to become a product re-sellers.
Basically, you source popular products with high profit margin from overseas and then re-sell them on your own online store, eBay or Amazon.
But the competition will be huge because the barrier of entry is very low and everyone else can sell the same products as you.

Personally, I don’t like the headache of having to keep track of inventory and handle packing and shipping.
So, I would recommend you to explore selling information products online if you have knowledge or expertise that you can use to help other people solve their problems or get the results they want.
Here are my reasons:
- It’s close to zero cost to create your product (i.e. eBook and online courses)
- It’s almost 100% profits after paying transaction fees to your payment processing company.
- There’s no shipping or packing or inventory because everything is digital.
- It’s scalable (i.e. you can sell it over and over again to many people)
Now, how do you decide what information product to create and sell?
All information products are meant to offer people solutions to their problems and help them get the results they want.
So, what problems do you think you can help other people solve?
For example, if you are good at playing piano, you can create and sell an online course on that to help people learn how to play piano.
If you know how to help people lose weight, you can create an online course to show people how.
If you are a good writer, you can create an online course to teach people how to write better.
To help you get more ideas flowing, you can look at things like your hobbies, your interests, your strengths and your skills.
Personally, I have been selling information products for a few years.
Below is one of my own online courses “Service Arbitrage Pro” program.
The reason why I created an online course teaching people how to start their own service arbitrage business is because I have done it myself and gotten results doing it.
So, it is one good way for me to share my knowledge and experience with those who want to know how to do it.
You see, idea generation might look simple.
But you don’t want to have just any idea.
You want a profitable idea.
So, before you start creating your online course, you need to first validate if there is actually demand for it.
The last thing you want is to spend months putting together an online course that nobody wants to buy.
So, how do you validate your online course idea?
There are a few ways you can do it:
- Check if there are already similar online courses that are selling well on Udemy and other similar platforms.
- Find out if there are books on similar topics selling well on Amazon
- Gauge audience interest by talking about your story on social media
Service-Based Business Ideas
When you start a service-based business, you are essentially turning your own skills or other professionals’ skills into services that people already want and are willing to pay for.
Selling services is one of the quickest ways to make money.
You just need to come up with a service offer. Then, you are ready to get paying clients.
One of the easiest examples I can think of is dog walking services.
Once you have decided on your offer and pricing, you can start promoting your service to dog owners and get paying clients.
Simple as that.
So, services are all about solving problems and providing value for other people.
Now, let’s just think back about what services you have paid for in the past.
What are those services?
Why did you pay for them?
Personally, I have paid for many services before such as:
- House cleaning
- Babysitting
- Food delivery
- Dance lessons
- Language lessons
- Bridal makeup service
- Wedding photography service
- Interior Design service
Each of these services either helps me solve a problem or offers a benefit that I really want.
Here are some benefits most people would be willing to pay for:
- Save Time
- Make Money
- Save Money
- Convenience
- Personalized Service
- Remove Pain
- Have Fun
- Become Happier
- Impress Others
“What service can I sell?” was the first question in my head when I was deciding what services to sell.
Many people seem to think that you will only succeed in your business if you can come up with an idea that no one has ever thought of before.
But that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Actually, the key to starting a profitable service business is simply identifying a service niche that is already in demand.
And when I was choosing my service niche back then, I had my doubts too.
I kept wondering, “Why would anyone want to buy from me when there are already people offering the same service?”
If there are already people who are offering similar services, that is actually good news.
That means there is a market for this type of service.
And it is not a bad thing that you have competition.
If you are smarter than them, provide a better service than them or market better than them or work harder than them, you can make more money than them.
But, most people didn’t realize that this mindset is EXACTLY what is stopping them from taking action to start a business.
They’ve killed their idea even before testing and validating it.
So, don’t make this mistake and kill your idea before even testing it.
Now, how do you identify what service you can sell?
What skills do you have that can be turned into a service that is already in demand?
Before you start telling yourself that you don’t have any sell-able skills, I want you to do me a favor to suspend that thought for a moment and read on.
Believe it or not, everyone is good at something.
Sometimes you just don’t realize it.
This is because what is so natural and normal to you might be something that many people are struggling with and are even willing to pay you money to help them.
For example, if you are into fashion and have a great sense of style, this might just be a hobby of yours.
But what you might not realize is that people would actually be willing to pay you money to teach them how to dress well to impress their dates.
Here’s another example.
If you are a stay-at-home mum who is very good at cooking healthy and delicious meals for your kids in a very short time, you might feel this is nothing special.
But I bet there are many women out there who would pay you to get your recipes or coaching on how to do the same.
So, here’s what I want you to do next.
First, identify your top 5 skills.
If you are struggling to come up with ideas, it helps to take a look at the following:
- Books you usually read
- Activities you do in your free time
- Websites you frequently visit
- Tools you often use
- Results you’ve gotten for yourself or others
Also, you can ask your friends and family what they think you are good at.
Once you have identified your top 5 skills, I would like you to think about what problems you can help other people solve with each skill.
You see, all the services out there serve ONE purpose – solve problems for people.
When you have a human resources problem, you will want to look for HR consulting services.
When you have a tax problem, you will want to look for tax consulting services.
When you have problems with your Facebook advertising, you will want to look for FB ads consulting services.
Basically, what problems you can help solve will give you clues as to who your ideal clients are.
So, who are you helping with your service?
Are you helping other businesses solve their problems?
Or are you helping individuals?
